Student voice is an integral part of South Shield School development which is underpinned by the work that is completed by the Student Leadership Team.
There are four committees each linked to our four core values. Students are encouraged to be part of one of the committees to realise the core values they represent and drive forward school improvement.
Our Student Leadership Team have already completed a tremendous amount of work alongside the Senior Leadership Team, driving change and working with ideas from students across school on a variety of topics, such as anti-bullying, teaching and learning and extra-curricular activities. Their main focus this year forging links with charities and giving back to the local community.
The committees meet weekly and the Student Leadership Team discuss ideas and any concerns with the student body before meeting with the Head teacher in their weekly meeting which is then fed back to the student body through Advisory and the student voice noticeboard.
We are very grateful as a school to have so many young people who are emerging as young leaders and will go on to be extremely successful in their careers. They demonstrate a whole host of skills which they work on every week when they meet as a team. In addition, we are proud to work alongside such inspirational students who have their peers’ best interests at heart.
