TEACHING ASSISTANT – LEVEL 3 ( Delivering Learning and Cover), 37 HPW (TERM TIME ONLY)

£21,074 pa pro rata

Temporary post until August 2019

We require an enthusiastic, flexible and assertive Teaching Assistant to join our team. This post involves supervising and delivering lessons in the absence of teachers, ensuring discipline is upheld and the effect of the teacher’s absence upon learning is minimised. The successful candidate will also be involved in break and lunchtime duties, examination invigilation and administration to support faculties. This is a busy role requiring a patient but assertive manner and the ability to deal with a range of situations.

Examination Invigilator/Reader/Scribe

About the role

Examination Invigilator/Reader/Scribe – £8.75ph

 Casual contract

 Required for May/June examinations

We are seeking to recruit new Examination Invigilators, Reader/scribes to work with the existing team in the running of all internal and public examinations at South Shields School.

The post would be ideally suited to applicants who feel a sense of responsibility for today’s young people and who are able to work flexible daytime hours. The role is on a casual basis, throughout the academic year, involving morning and afternoon sessions as directed by the Examinations Officer.

As an examination invigilator you will supervise students during examinations and complete a small amount of associated paper work.

As a Reader/scribe you will need good reading, spelling and handwriting skills to read and write for students who require additional help during exams.

The ideal applicant will be vigilant and reliable, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Experience of carrying out invigilation duties or acting as a reader/scribe would be an advantage however full training will be provided and all hours will be negotiated for each examination period.
